KEEP IT SIMPLE TODAY FOR A BETTER TOMORROW

Before the age of social media I knew that I didn't want to live the balance of my life as a widow and I had no idea how to meet my next love.  Well, people advertise for everything from cars to Kleenex.  Could I not advertise for a husband?  My friends thought I was nuts, but why not cautiously give it a try.  I did.  It worked,  It continues to work.  This has been a very big thing.

And way before Facebook apps, we bought our house from our dearest friend who is now deceased.  Al's loving memories remain with us in our ancient house.  This is a very big thing.

We wanted a beautiful wedding on the campus where my husband teaches.  This was a big thing.

I passed my Alabama state boards...a big thing.

We wanted to travel - to London, to Scotland, to Spain, to Africa,, to Bora Bora, to Tahiti, and throughout the United states..........more very big things.

We wanted a darling puppy.  Finding Chicklet, our beautiful Maltese,  is a big thing.

So many big things.

And now that we are growing older and more sophisticated, I realize that the most special things are the shared giggles, the dinners at Waffle House and other joints around town, shared happy tears, supportive sadness and embarrassing mistakes like putting gasoline in a diesel car.

When that time comes that we no longer have each other in the same ways, it will remain clear to me that unforgettable small memories are really the largest of all memories...watching TV, ordering a pizza, goodnight kisses, our sleepy time talk where we review the best and most difficult parts of our day.  Only my husband understands what I mean when I say, "Do me the day."  Only my husband understands the top priority of sharing that first morning cup of coffee, the little sweet snack with evening coffee and the beautifully special movies we have shared like "Its a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood."

I share this with you for you to cherish and understand.  Don't ever overlook the small gems that embellish your life.  Never, ever, never.  They come this way but once.

Because it is the little things make life big.
