This is the season of celebration, prayer and joy. It is also a season of stress. This often involves feeling that it is impossible to cope with family gatherings, gift buying, gift receiving, meals that are far too elaborate, crowds and the profound sadness that accompanies memories of deaths of loved ones.
As you experience untreated stress, you raise your risk for heart problems, unhealthy behaviors and anxiety. This is a good time for practicing mindfulness and meditation. Essentially, this means practicing techniques to help you unhinge. These are practices that involve learning how to stop reacting to what is going on around you. You can do this at home, at work - even in your vehicle when you are not driving it. It is important that you stay seated, take a breath and just stop. Stop. Disconnect. I can teach you more about how to do this when we are together - face-to-face. I will teach you how to do nothing. Just be.
To further treat your stress, focus on self care - healthy nutrition and good sleep. As you learn to practice alleviation of tension, be grateful....grateful for all of the blessings you do have, including the support of others to help you through difficult times. Do consider me one of those others.
I have learned these lessons from MD-VIP and they have changed my life. Let them change yours as well.
