TOSS AWAY TENSION

Stress and anxiety are a part of all of our lives. Sometimes they can be minor, but, at other times, they can make people feel absolutely horrible and helpless. Causes of the stress can be anything from a bad cold to a deadline you can't meet to a serious medical diagnosis. It can certainly increase your heart rate so that you experience palpitations, sweating and difficulty with sleep. You can begin having problems with your blood pressure and additional physical difficulties.. You may also find that it is harder to breathe.

When you feel stressed, you will want more energy to escape the situation. You will find yourself in that situation we often refer to as "fight or flight." Then, after you release the stress, the hormones that were involved begin to clear your body. One of those hormones is called cortisol. This one may take longer to leave your system and, because of that, you may find that your appetite is increased as your body tries to replace the calories it used to "fight off and take flight" from the stress you were experiencing. You can learn to better manage your stress by using techniques that therapists can teach you - meditation, progressive muscle relaxation, exercise and pain management. There are many others. You can talk with me about which techniques may be best for you. I have the time to help you.
