Love Life And It Will Love You Back

As we approach the end of one year to begin another, it is resolution time. This impresses me with the urgency of making all of our time resolution time. This is written on November 24, 2017 and, the older I get, the more I recognize that this is the only November 24, 2017 that we will ever have. Tomorrow is the only November 25, 2017 that will ever be known to us. And the next time we have a snow fall may be the last one we will ever experience.

All of this may feel like a morbid cement blanket covering our future...and maybe it is. Use this as an opportunity to review your regrets. What ambitions and fantasies have you ignored? Some are truly lost and gone forever, but not all. Review your dreams and make a realistic assessment of those things that are still possible for you. Make plans to spend meaningful time with family and friends. Enjoy those special meals, meaningful trips and get-togethers with friends. "NOW" is the key word here rather than "I'll think about it tomorrow" or "one of these days soon" or "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." That other side of the rainbow could be a walk in the sun or a tornado. Without a plan, you will never know.

It has been a while since I have thought about the actor known as James Dean. He died suddenly at age 24 from a motor vehicle accident. I think of him while I am on this subject because he was known for encouraging us to "Dream as though you will live forever. Live as though you will die tomorrow." Had you known James Dean, you would have liked him. Accept his present in memoriam.
